Floating Crystals - Deborah Moore

I call these necklaces "Floating Crystals". They are strung on silk thread and enhanced with Swarovski crystals in various shades. When they are worn, the silk thread seemingly disappears and it looks as though the wearer has crystals floating around her neck. Approximately 16" long with sterling silver clasps. Add a clear floating crystal necklace to one with color. You'll really sparkle!

The vase was made using several techniques, the bottom portion and top is thrown on a wheel and the mid section is created through a coiling process. The flower on the vase was inspired from my camille bushes that were blooming. This is one of my favorite pieces and would look great with a large bouquet or displayed in a special place. All my art is different, I rarely duplicate, it makes me happy to come up with new designs.

Eastern Shore Chamber Jubilee Festival Planning Committee Selects Official Artwork “PELICAN RACERS” BY MICHAEL THOMAS

The planning committee for the 23^rd Annual Jubilee Festival has been busy organizing the phenomenal event, which takes place in Olde Towne Daphne September 24 & 25. The official artwork that will be printed on posters and t-shirts was created by photographic artist Michael Thomas of Gulf Shores. It is entitled “Pelican Racers.”

The work depicts two brown pelicans racing through the bay; enjoying an early morning swim. It is a mixture of digital painting that overlays photos, creating the appearance of a true painting.

Michael has a long background in photography dating back 35 years when he was employed at Meteor Photo, a photo lab in Detroit, Mich. He worked in the darkroom developing film and enhancing images for the automobile industry and commercial photograhers. Then when digital photography technology was developed he started to work with that medium and expanded his knowledge in the field of photography and art. He relocated to Baldwin County two-and-a-half years ago and found a new way of living and has further developed his creative abilities. more...

TRAINS OF THOUGHT with LOCO-MOTIVES and other little myths...is my first published work of fiction... the genre is a weave of short story and poetic prose... the work is as heavy as it is light...the imagination is stirred ... the trains of thought speak to you as only you can uniquely receive the meaning, content and symbolisms.

The feedback has touched me in uncharted emotional and intellectual areas.(as a painter, selling a visual is very different ) the book...going out into the world and taking on a life of its own...is a new and moving experience...and appropriately so....(moving) as , after all, it is on the train of thought....

There are fourteen stories...the journey begins with " Ready" and ends with "Sleep"..... this is the kind of book you can read and reread....the work is chocked full of nuggets ...a linguistic surprise package....

Magnet Board... functional art...

This 16x20 painting is a magnet board.... functional art... I had painted several kitchen pieces for a customer and she asked me to create a magnet board for her.... thanks to her request ... this is what evolved.... I'm having a good time with this new twist for the decorative arts.... of course, it's linen... as you can really see by the open space for your reminders....

Chris is a self-trained watercolorist who works primarily with bright, clean colors to achieve a realistic style of painting. His technique produces a complicated yet detailed scene which reveals an understanding of depth and realism. He enjoys painting a variety of subjects, including still life, landscape, street scenes, and natural scenes. His compositions are well balanced and flowing, keeping the observer's eye engaged.
His realistic paintings utilize flat planes of color layered rather loosely to produce a sense of realism.
Since Hartsfield began his art career in 1988, he has had paintings accepted in national and regional watercolor competitions. Including The American Watercolor Society, The National Watercolor Society, Arts For The Parks, Georgia, Kentucky, and Oklahoma Watercolor Society shows. He has won numerous "Best of Show" and other awards in over 350 juried art shows. His paintings are bought by both private and corporate collectors.

The Utopian Fairhope

The Utopian Fairhope is a collaborative effort between two Alabama film companies Feather Head Productions of Fairhope and Scovil Productions of Mobile. Andrea Holloway head of Feather Head Productions is the Executive Producer and Gary Scovil of Scovil Productions is Co-Producer. Rounding out the team is business manager Stan Zimmerman and production assistant and second cameraman Corey Lipscomb. The production crew has been filming a documentary about the quaint southern town of Fairhope Alabama. The film will be released at an invitation only event at the South Alabama University Baldwin County Campus Saturday evening April 10 and Sunday afternoon April 11.

The film is shown through the eyes of a newcomer to Fairhope, Gary Scovil, who became inspired by the unique community, Entering the town I couldnt help being struck by its beauty. The inspiration leads him to collaborate with life long Fairhope resident Andrea Holloway to make a documentary film encompassing many of the things that make Fairhope a wonderful place.

Fairhope was built upon a belief in the Arts that still continues to grow. This little town has historically been a haven for free thinkers such as artists, authors, sculptors, musicians, photographers, and the like. The film focuses on outstanding artists within the community. Set to a beautiful backdrop, these scenes are accompanied by music from multiple award-winning film score producer Brian Keane as well as artwork from local talent some of which is recognized around the world. These many beautiful scenes of the area range from sunsets on Fairhopes pier on Mobile Bay to the Eastern Shore landscape of cotton fields and pecan orchards.

Featured interviews with people such as former Mayor James Nix bring to light simple and varied ideas, like the many colorful flowers and trees that adorn the streets of Fairhope. Artistic and aesthetically pleasing touches, tree lighting, hanging flower baskets and seasonal flowers that line the streets, make Fairhope a sight to see.

Colorful characters that stand out in the community, including everyday folks, depict a unique slant on life in such a peaceful and picturesque place. Many of the townspeople will recognize these individuals as true contributors to Fairhopes diversity. Truly old-fashioned values are evident in this place where folks stop on the streets and at the towns shops to catch up on local happenings and help others, including newcomers.

It is obvious from this film that the ideals of the 1890s are still alive and thriving in this multi-talented and amazing utopian time capsule of the South.

Ricky’s vision left him one eye at a time. His left eye was permanently damaged in an accident while on active duty as Captain in the Army in 1993. A logging truck slung an object through the open window of his vehicle, destroying his retina. I've recently been exploring more abstraction in my painting and find that I really like the freedom it presents.

Here are two of my latest explorations, they are acrylic on canvas and measure 22"X22".
The first picture is called Vieux Carre' because of the colors which remind me of Mardi Gras. This Carnival season is just around the corner!
The second painting was spontaneous and after closer inspection I realized it strongly reminded me of a road, a bridge, and the ocean so it is called Road to the Beach.

The latest in a series I call Key Largo. This is a large canvas 30X40" I used acrylic gel for texture on the Angel Fish and then a smaller version. I also used quite a bit of glazing for this piece. Overall I am OK with the way it turned out.
